In depth
Verdict
Meraas was very green on his debut at Wolverhampton in March but was only beaten half-a-length and that should have put him spot-on for this. Perfect Focus started a short-priced favourite for his debut at Newcastle but couldn't concede 5lb to the filly Yes Always, who looked smart. City Walk made a promising start at Newmarket though that was last April so the vote goes to COLD FRONT (NAP), who led throughout until caught on the line on heavy going at Newbury in October. Fresh has a very speedy pedigree and could prove best of the newcomers.
