Verdict

A tricky maiden may go to Over The Rainbow, with Bukit Fraser, Burning Moon, Musaayer and Pending all live dangers. Most of these will no doubt pay their way in due course but on the evidence so far, Over The Rainbow makes most appeal. A promising second to Psychiatrist on his Goodwood debut over seven furlongs, the step up to a mile will surely suit the son of Rainbow Quest who holds entries in both the Royal Lodge and Racing Post Trophy. He has most to fear from Bukit Fraser, third to Desert Dreamer on his Newbury bow. However, as Barry Hills trains the winner, he should have a solid line of form to work on. Burning Moon has the assistance of Kieren Fallon and comes from a stable in great form with its juveniles. Fifth on his Newmarket introduction, an entry in the Vodafone Derby suggests that his future lies over middle distances and he may be outpaced by the principals here. Musaayer is worth a mention as he has a bit of experience and comes from the stable that collected 12 months ago with Island Light, but the fact that he has already been gelded is a bit off-putting in this company. Pending, along with newcomers Blue Monday and Lawaaheb make for a very interesting contest for future reference and it would be no surprise if a host of subsequent winners emerged, starting with Over The Rainbow
