Verdict

Small fields are the order of the day at Sedgefield with 35 runners declared for the six races including just two in the opener in which, assuming they both run, Prize Ring should have the measure of Crosby Donjohn. The selection, a winner of a Newcastle seller over 1m2f last month, is rated 47 on the level and George Moore's gelding should be too good for the John Weymes-trained Crosby Donjohn. He is rated 7lbs inferior to the selection on the level and has shown little aptitude in three starts over hurdles having been pulled up on his last two attempts over timber. A poor contest then, that may be threatened further by strike action but in which Prize Ring gets the vote to make a winning debut over hurdles.
