Verdict

Seven runners for this nursery and a competitive enough race but KHANIVOROUS looked good here last time and can follow up from Nave and Huygens. Jim Boyle's horse appreciated the step up from five furlongs to seven last time when readily taking care of a decent looking field and a mark of 78 for this handicap debut might not prevent the horse repeating the dose. The stable's runners are going reasonably well and as the horse was off the bridle some way from home last time today's trip of a mile might be just what he needs so this son of Dubai Destination rates a strong fancy. Nave represents the seemingly ever in-form Mark Johnston team and despite being put up 4lbs for defeat last time the colt was brave in defeat and should run another solid race, although the feeling is that in our selection he meets a well-handicapped and less exposed sort. Huygens has had just the two starts and is therefore the least exposed of the bunch. Darryll Holland returns for the ride having guided the horse to an impressive maiden success back in the summer and although a near six month absence has to be a concern the horse is bred to appreciate quick conditions and perhaps connections decided to swerve softened ground and save their colt for a winter campaign on artificial surfaces. Whatever the case, the horse's mark of 82 looks about right on that run and so he has a decent shout of landing this contest. Master Of Dance continues to run well towards the end of what has been a busy first season but Richard Hannon's charge is up 7lbs following two narrow defeats and as one who tends to find a couple too good anyway looks worth taking on here, as does Fivefold who ran well enough on Sunday but remains without a win and might find this company even tougher. This has the makings of a strong nursery but Khanivorous looks up to the task and can show them all the way home.
