Verdict

An auction maiden that will not take much winning and CAPTAINRISK is taken to continue Marco Botti's good start to the all-weather season as he tackles ten furlongs for the first time. Returning to the track after a four month break last time, there did not look to be any stars behind Captainrisk. He did not get into full flow until late on and taking into account he now has the benefit of that outing and he encountered slight interference at a crucial stage, he is the clear pick here. Eastern Warrior failed to build on the promise of his debut when he finished mid-division in a maiden won by the Racing Post Trophy third Skanky Biscuit. A juvenile with lots of size to him, the step up to ten furlongs will suit him although it was concerning the degree to which he got outpaced at Great Leighs last time. The stop-start nature of all-weather racing may not suit him. Special Bond was dropped to seven furlongs last time having contested two maidens over a mile. Ten furlongs should be more in his favour. Midnight Bay showed distinct promise on his second start in what looked a reasonable backend Newbury maiden run on what can often be deceiving easy ground given the time of year. Ocean's Minstral is another stepping up in trip which should suit him but Captainrisk is the selection.
