In depth
Verdict
Shot Gun is a sporting choice in a wide open handicap in which Nan Jan, Electric Warrior and Spring Goddess can also go well. The last named has returned to form of late and, as she is still on a fair mark, she cannot confidently be ruled out. She does make her (all weather) course debut tonight, though, so it may be prudent to gauge the betting beforehand. Electric Warrior is relatively unexposed at a mile and, as he has a habit of popping up in races of this nature from time to time, he rates as a fair option for each-way punters to consider. Nan Jan has been in great heart this term - boasting a 50% strike-rate since her return to action. However, all her best form has been a Lingfield and she is yet to convince that the nature of Kempton suits. Therefore, it can pay to take a chance with a lesser exposed rival, with Shot Gun making the most appeal on this occasion. The Mick Channon-trained gelding is related to several useful types and, as he ha s very little to find to force his way into the argument, this son of Green Desert looks the best betting proposition in a tough one to call.
