Verdict
Passing Hour can give us a solid run despite carrying top weight and is preferred to Starparty and Vallemeldee. It would also be folly to rule out Hazy Days - even though she lacks experience at this stage. She is a well-related individual and, as Sir Mark Prescott has introduced her at a modest level, she could easily go on to better things. The Lomitas filly looked to be already in need of at least this distance when she won her maiden last month, so she may well already be ahead of the assessor. Watch the market very carefully for clues. Vallemeldee has got the hang of things since stepping into handicaps and gained just reward with a success at Lingfield 11 days ago. This extra furlong is step into the unknown, though. Starparty goes well for Jim Crowley and has to be respected. She has plenty of scope and, as she has a likeable attitude, she cannot be ruled out. However, Passing Hour - a sister to Queen Mary Stakes winner Shining Hour - just edges the verdict on this occasion. The Gerard Butler-trained filly is getting better with each outing and, although there is unlikely to be much in it, she is fancied to prove the handicapper is spot on in assuming she is the best horse in the race.
