In depth

Verdict

The Seven Barrows team of Nicky Henderson can continue a good day with POLYFAST, who can get the better of Nicto De Beauchene, while Snakebite is respected. The last-named returned from a long absence here last month over 2m 5f. He was well supported that day, but never got competitive, and he is now stepped up in trip. We know that he stays this far and acts on the ground, and if he is feeling better about life then he could go very close from a mark of just 118. Nicto De Beauchene is now just 2lbs higher than when he took a Uttoxeter novices' handicap chase in March of last year. Trip and ground suit and he should get very competitive today. Royal Wedding looks a bit high in the weights and has jumping issues to address, while Misty Dancer looks well handicapped on his best form, though he has struggled to reproduce that for some time. Rimsky has proved very hard to win with, while Hopkins has a fair bit to prove and Polyfast is selected. He would not necessarily have won had Dover's Hill stood up here at the Christmas meeting, but he deserved the win after putting in a very good round of jumping on his chase debut. He now moves into handicap territory with the scope for a fair bit more improvement than the 7lb rise he has been subjected to, and with the longer trip taken as a plus, we will side with him.
