Verdict
Although it may be a little premature to be giving the swerve to the David Nicholls-trained Fire Up The Band, as there defiantly races to be won with this lightly raced five-year-old, he may be worth taking on with another horse without too many miles on the clock and a chance is taken with Barons Pit this afternoon. Richard Hannon's charge is far less exposed than the likes of Indian Spark and Smokin Beau and will be very hard to get past if he repeats anything like the effort that saw him steam into third behind Choisir in last season's Golden Jubilee Stakes at Ascot. In contrast: Will He Wish and Fruit Of Glory have it all to do on the terms of the race and like, Mazepa, look set to play only supporting roles in this company. The admirable Smokin Beau ran a blinder on his reappearance but he, in turn, may also have to settle for minor honours as he looks a prime candidate to set things up for a strong finisher like Barons Pit if they both run their usual race.
