In depth

Verdict

This is the biggest test so far over hurdles for Legacy Gold but the stable has had a terrific week and she is still progressing. David Pipe has three other runners, however, and none of them are without hope. Empire Levant might appreciate the drop in class while Special Catch still has some scope. Seventh Sign sprang a surprise at Doncaster last month and Carrigmorna King is back over hurdles for the first time since winning at Wincanton in the autumn, though Chepstow scorer Lord Protector looks the stable's first pick. Portway Flyer and Another Hero have had a good season but the handicapper looks to have slipped up by easing IMPERIAL LEADER in the weights. His third to Fingal Bay at Exeter looks very good form now and he was earlier second in a Grade 2 at Ascot.
