      Verdict

      With a rating of 97 after finishing fourth in the Lowther at York, MERLETTA was expected to open her account at Haydock last month. She found one too good in Coral Mist as it turned out, but that defeat now looks better in hindsight as the latter went on to land a Group 3 race. Jeremy Noseda's filly is hard to oppose in this with only Potentate looking a possible challenger of those with experience and the newcomers will need to be above average. Celestial Knight is preferred of those ahead of Crafted and Sir Robert Cheval.
