Verdict
Al Jellaby is proving hard to win with and found one too good at Newmarket last month while Freerolling’s best form so far has been over 1m2f. Felix The Poet went close at Chelmsford in between poor efforts on the Turf and is preferred to both In The Red and Harbour Spirit, who landed lower grade races on the all-weather on their penultimate starts. Pesto ran below par at Sandown last time and Alfurat River makes a belated seasonal debut having won a maiden at Redcar last year. MAWAKIB (NAP) failed to get a clear run at Chester last time when returned a losing favourite. But he’d won over 7f here before that and, with this extra distance likely to suit, Roger Varian’s colt gets another chance.
