In depth

Verdict

Grande Caiman is a confident selection in this handicap with Pinch Of Salt and Athenian Way offered as the alternatives. Grande Caiman has blitzed his opposition in handicaps and it could turn out that Richard Hannon's colt is actually a cut above that class so we side with him to give weight all around in this affair. Pinch Of Salt may have been a little unfortunate behind Philatelist last time out. He could have finished closer granted a clear run and should pick up races this term. Athenian Way looked useful in Ireland when finishing second in a decent race at Cork last June. She has yet to sparkle for James Fanshawe but cannot be ruled out. Tartan Tie loves Southwell but has struggled elsewhere. St Savarin is yet to win since finding a bad claimer at Southwell. Celtic Spirit has been busy mixing hurdles and flat racing this winter. Grande Caiman looks to have scared off the meaningful opposition and he will be priced accordingly.
