Verdict
Best to concentrate on the runners from yards that do well in this line of work and so FINIAN'S RAINBOW gets the nod ahead of Calusa Shadow, Bangor Mill and Stoney's Treasure. Finian's Rainbow looked all over the winner of an Irish point-to-point last year before taking a tumble, and has since switched to Seven Barrows. Untried over this short or on a sound surface, he still has a bit to prove here, but he clearly has ability and that is attractive to punters. Calusa Shadow represents a yard in form and is related to winning stock over this trip and beyond, and also on quickish ground, so there are reasons to believe he will go well. Bangor Mill is another well related gelding who's trainer Harry Dunlop had a winner the other day. A market check is advised where he is concerned, and the same could be said of Alan King's apparent first string Stoney's Treasure. Robert Thornton used to ride this one's half-brother Hurricane Lamp, and if this gelding has anything like the ability of that useful chaser then he won't be far away. An intriguing race then and we'll just side with Finian's Rainbow.
