In depth

Verdict

The Dagger ran an eyecatching race on his handicap bow and can make a winning start for new connections. Victory can come at the main expense of Mixing and Artzola. Mixing won well last time and is one of several horses to come into this race in form which gives the contest a competitive look but, race fitness aside, The Dagger has plenty to recommend him. He showed promise in three runs in maidens despite the sprint trips proving woefully inadequate. He was duly stepped up to ten furlongs for his handicap bow where he ran on strongly without being able to get to the leaders. He has since left John Best but Gary Moore is capable of getting the best out of him and a big run could be on the cards. Artzola has won twice here in the past and she looks to be running into form judged by her staying on fourth here last time. She's got a little to do from her current mark but it would be no surprise to see her involved but the unexposed The Dagger makes far more appeal.
