In depth

Verdict

Progress should be able to do just that after a promising debut but despite looking a little exposed in this company we were most impressed with CARAMELITA's last run so she lands the vote in the maiden with Torres Del Paine also on the list. In the frame in all four starts on the all-weather the selection showed a great attitude to push a red-hot favourite she had no right to be close to all the way last time out. That was a career best and with the first two well clear that day she has good claims here. Progress started slowly before shaping with a modicum of talent on debut on what has turned out to be a weak Newmarket maiden. She's bred well enough and should be in the mix on her first start on polytrack. Torres Del Paine has a similar profile to the selection but is rated a few pounds better but he's ultimately been well held in recent starts, although he should be in the frame. Madlool is the most interesting newcomer and if well backed will be of considerable interest but after a great run in defeat last time Caramelita has the vote.
