In depth

Verdict

None of the runners in this handicap field jump off the page so were going to take a chance that LAST SOVEREIGN can recapture his old form to prove he's well weighted while Cut And Thrust and Kipchak remain of interest. The pick missed out by less than a length off a mark of 82 in the summer and has run well in defeat of similar marks since. Granted he's probably not as good on the polytrack but off his current rating of 78 should be capable of a prominent display. Cut And Thrust has a solid claim in this company with a collection of good runs under this kind of burden and his effort behind Ocean Legend last time has been given a welcome form boost. Kipchak has the ability to surprise and won a claimer on his penultimate start. He's four pounds heavier than when last in front in these ranks but he should be in the mix with other in the field also needing to prove a bit. Sunshine Always is another to considered as he was expected to do better last time but in a race where you can't be confident about any of them Last Sovereign is a risk that might be worth taking.
