Verdict

There was plenty to like about Drumconnor Lad's victory at Down Royal on Monday and a 6lb penalty is unlikely to prevent another big effort. NEWSWORTHY had competed at Aintree and Punchestown before scoring in more humble surroundings at Ballinrobe and now back in top form can complete a double. Net D'Ecosse is 1-16 over fences and hasn't run since October but Thirsty Work had a confidence booster over timber after falling at the last when there with a chance at Leopardstown. William Du Berlais won a Downpatrick handicap in August and though 7lb higher performed with credit later in the year.
