Verdict

BRIAR HILL looked like sweeping all before him after a brilliant novice campaign over hurdles but he's never really fulfilled his potential. He made a fair start over fences at Galway despite being touched off by a 66/1 chance and with the third having won easily subsequently the form looks strong enough for this. Air Command wasn't too far behind in fourth that day and can make further progress while Marinero was also decent over hurdles and looks like making a smart chaser judged on his narrow defeat by Scamall Dubh at Galway. However, Taglietelle, who finished a very close fourth, was having his first start over fences and hadn't been seen since March so he looks the main threat.
