Verdict
Although Capable Guest could have been expected to have got off the mark sooner than this, he has enough experience already behind him to set a good standard here and is selected in preference to the well-bred newcomers Banchieri and Humourous, who represent Godolphin and have to be respected accordingly. So too does Mostashaar, whose entry in the Champagne and Royal Lodge Stakes underlines his potential and he is defiantly one to keep a close eye on in the betting. Pianoforte ran on well during the closing stages of his debut and shaped as if he has a race within him somewhere along the line. However, he does need to improve on that performance to come out on top today and is probably best watched. Banchieri - a Derby entry by the inimitable Dubai Millennium - has to be of plenty of interest considering his sire's strike-rate with his limited progeny up to date. His pedigree is an interesting mix of speed and stamina and he has to be seriously considered if he is supported. However, he is unlikely to represent much value for a debutante that has it all to prove at this stage and it may be prudent to give the selection another chance to make his experience count. Home reports suggest that Capable Guest has thrived since his latest effort in finishing second in a decent maiden at Ascot, which itself came on the back of a cracking performance to claim third in the Coventry Stakes the previous month. Capable Guest has been champing at the bit since then and can prove his well being by gaining a well deserved first success today.
