In depth

Verdict

Perseverance is the name of the game with Killala, who is selected to end a frustrating run of near misses; possibly at the main expense of Luke After Me and Kelseas Kolby. The last mentioned comes from a yard that are just beginning to fire again after having to switch training establishments due to refurbishments at Southwell racecourse. However, Paul Blockley has kept the four-year-old busy over the last month or so and, as a previous course and distance winner, he is obviously respected. However, he is now 2lb higher in the weights and has a bit to do off top weight, even in this company. Luke After Me does not have too many miles on the clock and has a solid chance on the best of his form. The booking of Kerrin McEvoy states that his connections mean business today and money to support his claims looks virtually assured. This may help to push the price out on the selection and a late play with Killala is thus advised. The son of Among Men has been knocking on the door of late in similar company and has shaped as if his turn is near, which considering the shaky profile represented by some of his rivals, makes Killala the most appeal to oblige for us in a tricky race to solve.
