In depth

Verdict

A race that has cut up badly from the five day stage and Fandani is selected ahead of Nikola. The selection hails from a yard that have sent out winners and was a useful hurdler on his day. Charlie Mann pitched him in at a high level on chasing debut and in fairness to the horse, he had every chance of collecting before making a race-ending blunder. Connections have taken their time to wait for better ground and they look to have conditions to suit here. Nikola has had his chances in the past and sets the standard. Nevertheless, this does rate as a massive about turn by the trainer, who drops him down from three to two miles. Barati handles fast ground but has shown precious little since leaving Michael O'Brien in Ireland. Colemanstown and Tiffin Deano look to be out of their depth against this level of opposition. A match on paper and one that can go the way of Fandani.
