Verdict
Ashgar is a bit of a monkey to say the least and he never had to get out of second gear to win a moderate seller at Wetherby last time. That may have given his confidence a boost, but he will find this more competitive and is passed over. The ground will hold no fears for Joe Luke, but he may need another outing to put him right, while All Honey has yet to convince over this trip. Although Mr Christie will be racing from out of the handicap, it would be folly to dismiss him as he stays longer than the mother-in-law. Montagnette is hardly the most consistent horse in training, but she stays well, goes on the ground and her small stable had a winner on the flat earlier this week. However, the TEAMtalk vote goes to the lightly raced Gielgud, who steps into handicap company for the first time. Paul Webber's gelding should be suited by this step up in trip and doesn't look harshly treated off a mark of 103.
