In depth

Verdict

Skippers Brig can give weight away to his rivals including Sherwoods Folly and You'll Do For Me. This looks a good little contest in which only narrow preference would be for Skippers Brig. Len Lungo's charge has a very bright future indeed, having already won three of his five career starts, and although he will be seen to even better effect when eventually sent over three miles, he will have conditions to suit today on a track that will bring his undoubted stamina very much into play. The Carrutherstown trainer has been patient with the son of Zaffaran so far, and he will certainly pay to follow when sent over fences, but in the meantime he is taken to outclass today's rivals. Sherwoods Folly is definitely going the right way and hails form an in-form stable, but he has to improve again, especially as the horse that beat him at Hereford, Treasury Council, has since been beaten by You'll Do For Me at the same track. The latter in turn needs to step up a gear, and all in all, we will be surprised and indeed disappointed if Skippers Brig does not keep up the good work.
