Verdict
Jean-Claude Rouget won this in 2016 with Amanzor and Vadeni, the French Derby and Eclipse winner, sets the standard, especially as he wouldn't have enjoyed fast ground at Sandown. MISHRIFF was undoubtedly unlucky in the latter event on his return from a break. He couldn't get close to Baaeed next time at York but that was no disgrace and he is taken to get back on the winning trail. Alenquer finished last in the Eclipse but hated the ground while Onesto finished fifth in the French Derby before winning the Grand Prix de Paris over further. Luxembourg won the Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster before an excellent run in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. He returned from injury to land a Group 3 at the Curragh last month which looked a warm-up for this.
