Verdict
Cuneo won the race a year ago with Thermistocles in third and Rachael Blackmore keeps faith with him despite the stable having three other entries. The latter fell when tried over fences at Thurles and could only finish seventh in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham won by SIRE DU BERLAIS when Cuneo was fourth. The winner was returning from a break and never got competitive when The Jam Man completed a four-timer in a Grade B handicap at Navan where he had the well-supported Tout Est Permis 3 lengths back in second and Gordon Elliott's charge is taken to reverse the form and carry his big weight to victory. The stable also run The Stortyteller, better known as a chaser but who reverted to hurdles with a victory at Clonmel and is 16lb lower than over fences. Great White Shark, who won a premier handicap on the Flat at Galway in July, the in-form Ronald Pump and the well handicapped Rock De Baune are amongst numerous dangers in a hugely competitive handicap.
