    In depth

The only time Gleaming Silver has won a race was over a mile here last year and though Johnny Murtagh has picked up the ride the trip has to be a problem. The majority of the entries have been jumping including the veteran Essex, who is rated 140 over hurdles and is still useful on the level as he showed when runner-up over the trip at the Curragh in September. Avanti Albert ended last year in good form on Polytrack and a recent spin over timber will have put him straight while Elyaadi was in cracking form at this time a year ago and would be a real threat if fit enough after a break. ALPINE GLADE looks the one to be on after her recent success over Sweeps Hill at Killarney as she has improved markedly over timber while remaining very well treated on the level.

Avanti Albert (IRE) 6-1fav (8-11) Towards rear, 10th entering straight, switched right 2f out, some headway and went 4th when switched left inside final furlong, stayed on strongly to lead close home, won at Dundalk 1m 4f Ext hcp pol in Nov beating Pires (9-3) by nk, 14 ran.

Elyaadi 8-1 (9-12) Held up towards rear, headway entering straight, 7th 2f out, no impression over 1f out, kept on same pace, 6th of 20, 8l behind Celtic Soprano (8-13) at Curragh 1m 6f hcp 60-90 sft in Oct.

Curling Bird 16-1 (9-2) Soon led, ridden and headed 2 1/2f out, no extra in 5th 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 12th of 15, 10l behind Barring Decree (9-10) at Curragh 1m 2f hcp 60-90 gf.

Essex (IRE) 7-2fav (9-6) Mid-division, ridden entering straight, 8th 2f out, no impression in 7th 1f out, kept on one pace, 8th of 20, 10l behind Celtic Soprano (8-13) at Curragh 1m 6f hcp 60-90 sft in Oct.

Rekaab (IRE) 14-1 (8-11) Chased leaders, 7th halfway, weakened over 3f out, tailed off, last of 17, well behind Silverhand (9-5) at Curragh 1m 6f hcp sft in Sep.

Zarinava (IRE) 7-1 (10-8) Chased leaders, 7th over 3f out, ridden in 8th before straight, soon no impression, kept on same pace, 7th of 17, 10l behind Ghimaar (11-11) at Galway 2m am hcp 70-100 sft in Jul.

Charger 10-3 (9-3) Close up, tracked leader over 3f out, challenged over 1f out, led 1f out, ridden and edged right soon after, ran on well, won at Brighton 1m 4f mdn stks (5) gd in Oct beating Decorum (9-3) by 1 3/4l, 7 ran.

Burning Sky 14-1 (9-10) Held up towards rear, some headway approaching straight, kept on same pace from under 2f out without threatening, 8th of 14, 8l behind Captain Cole (9-13) at Dundalk 1m 4f app hcp 50-75 pol in Nov.
