In depth

Pathos led until he weakened three furlongs out last time at Goodwood over a mile and a half and there is every reason a drop to a trip he has won over before may bring out the best in him. On the pick of his ability he should challenge but there remains the slight reservation that he is still not back to full form after a three year absence. EYE OF ETERNITY is a previous course and distance winner and at the bottom of the weights Rae Guest's runner should play a major role. She likes it round here and she gets the vote, although any more rain may play against her. Negotiation battled to secure a win last time out over this sort of trip at Yarmouth but he is up 6lbs and has some in-form horses as opposition. Richard Hughes has just two bookings on the card here and it is certainly eye-catching that one of them is to ride Hip Hip Hooray. Luke Dace's filly won two starts ago and should be suited by the hold up tactics of Richard Hughes. Mellifera looks like a 3lb rise in the weights won't stop her progress with an extra furlong that should suit and in good-form of late. She is unproven on the ground but market support would be encouraging.
