Verdict

Appenzeller showed some potential in the spring and on his return from a break at Kempton then made all under Finley Marsh at Wolverhampton. He's up 4lb and this is a slight step-up in trip but he's likely to take some pegging back. PERFECT REFUGE hasn't run on the all-weather since making his debut here but has been going very well on Turf, following a victory over this trip at Windsor with a narrow defeat at Leicester. There's plenty more to come from Clive Cox' grey and she can return to winning ways. Make Good has mainly raced in better company and has changed stables since a very good run at Nottingham in July but could have done without a 6lb rise. Foresee won a 1m4f Epsom handicap in August on ground with plenty of give so could find this on the short side but Seamus Cronin's claim is a bonus for Il Sicario, who was in the lead at this trip when tackling 1m3f at Bath.
