Verdict

NORTHERN POET beat Ace Time, Ballycloven Beat and Gorgeous George here on debut. As the second started favourite for a Newbury bumper on debut, the form may be decent and Nick Gifford’s charge is fancied to defy his penalty. Both Mr Perfect and Dancing Doris found only one too good on their bumper debuts last season while Minella Tara had every chance when falling at the last in a maiden point at Stowlin in May. Millstone will need to reverse Huntingdon form with Mr Perfect in April and his stable is in the doldrums at present.
