In depth
Verdict
A few of these have been hard to win with and it is not too difficult to whittle down the field to just a handful that make any serious appeal for a punt. None more so than Fission, who edges the vote over Big Bad Burt, Princess Ismene and Lady Mo - although Lady Piste does not have too much to find with the selection and could go well for place-money. However, Fission makes far more appeal as the likeliest winner and is expected to be very hard to beat if she repeats her effort over course and distance from just over a fortnight ago. The drop into sellers and claimers has sparked a revival in the performances of the daughter of Ali Royal and, although she is no world-beater, she is expected to prove the handicapper right in his assumption that she is the best horse in the race on the official figures.
