In depth

Verdict

A wide open contest can go the way of Iceni Warrior, with Chimes At Midnight, Compton Express, and Coolaw just three others in with claims. The selection wasn't beaten far behind Smoothie last time out at Kempton and with today's longer trip expected to suit, he should go close. His stable are in fine fettle at present and as a horse in form, he looks the solid call. Compton Express has been running well this year, however stamina isn't assured and he looks vulnerable. Dubai Sunday is interesting returning from a break and should be watched in the market for signs of confidence, whilst Integration has place claims but is ultimately winless in 30 runs. Coolaw should be of more interest now stepped up in trip and can go well, whilst Chimes At Midnight was well held behind the selection last time out and will need to improve for this step up in trip. At a price Montecristo could go well, but for the winner we will return to Paul Howling's Iceni Warrior.
