In depth

Verdict

PROTECTED GUEST (NAP) has held his form well over the winter and won at Southwell last time having earlier scored over track and trip. He has the measure of Pirate King on recent efforts and looks worth sticking with. Dark Pine is at home in this grade but is unproven over this far while both Barn Owl and Pistoletto had little chance in the Winter Derby over 1m2f here. The former should be sharper for that debut for a new yard while Amazing Red returns from an absence and Haliphon, a dual winner in France, debuts for new connections.
