Verdict
The shortlist here consists of Chorus Beauty, La Londonne, Red Rocky, Velvet Touch and, possibly, Starcross Venture, with our vote going to Chorus Beauty. The Geoff Wragg-trained selection has plenty to like on breeding ¿ being by Royal Applause out of a Cadeaux Genereux mare ¿ credentials that make her hard to ignore. Looking through the others. This trip is probably on the short side for Introduction. Cape Tia is by the up-and-coming sire Cape Cross, but six furlongs will probably prove short of this one¿s best. Lyrical Lady showed a little more promise on her second outing after breaking slowly, but we prefer others. La Londonne ran with plenty of promise over course and distance when second on her debut but was slightly disappointing when stepped up to a mile on the same surface last time. However, a return to the form of her debut gives her a good chance here. Mugeba is speedily-bred but was a very cheap purchase, while Red Rocky, who cost even less but is by the very promising Australian sire Danzero, showed a good deal of promise on her debut in an ordinary Pontefract maiden, She has every right to go well here. Starcross Venture is by a sire who holds an influence for American dirt racing so a market move could prove interesting, and Velvet Touch, who cost only 500 guineas, ran with plenty of promise on her debut at Nottingham over today¿s trip on good to soft. Her purchase price sees her attractively-weighted and she has to be given serious consideration in a race that seems to lack strength in depth. All things considered, though, Chorus Beauty is nominated, but only if the market speaks in her favour.
