Verdict

Barry Hills and Mark Johnston both saddle interesting newcomers in the shape of Danehill Sunset and Al Farahidi but Clive Brittain is having winners for fun at the moment and he may have another one here with JAWAL. The son of Motivator made a pleasing debut last month when a close third, beaten two-and-a-half lengths, behind Midfielder in a race at Wolverhampton that is working out all right and, with the likelihood of improvement to come, he looks worth backing to open his account. Mick Channon's Mejd only beat one home on his debut at Newmarket in October but ran much better on his reappearance last month when a close up fourth over course and distance in a maiden and he has to be respected. Marcus Tregoning's Merrqaad was not disgraced when third in a Kempton maiden on his first start last month and is another that has shown promise, while Ed Dunlop's Head Hunted should step up on the form shown first time up at Nottingham last term, but a bigger threat may come from one of the newcomers. Al Farahidi, a son of Seeking The Gold, represents the in-form Mark Johnston stable and has to be considered along with Barry Hills' Danehill Sunset but Jawal could be another winner for Clive Brittain and gets the vote.
