Verdict
Lingfield's turf meeting gets under way with a maiden that looks principally to concern Pilgrim Spirit, Assoon and Teresa, with the latter getting the vote. John Dunlop's filly is related to Mons who stayed a mile and three quarters, so the step up to this distance should not be a problem, and should see her register a first win. She shaped well enough when third at Thirsk last time, staying on at the finish and makes more appeal than Pilgrim Spirit who, although only beaten a neck at Salisbury over this trip, looked short of a change of gear when it mattered. Assoon second in a long-distance maiden at Warwick, had earlier been successful in bumper company at Worcester but surely has a future over hurdles and will be found wanting at the finish here. All in all, Teresa has a great chance of opening her account.
