Verdict
Having bolted up on his reappearance at Kempton, Rainwashed Gold is fancied to make all for a first pattern win here, with Titurel and the improving Franklins Gardens the most likely to chase him home. Amanda Perrett's Rainbow Quest colt had some solid juvenile form, most notably when chasing home Rimrod in Listed company at Goodwood, and showed he had progressed well from two to three when making all for an 11-length victory on his reappearance at Kempton. That run should have put him spot on for this Group 3 attempt, and connections have the Italian Derby in mind for him. Titurel is still a maiden but showed decent form when fourth in Sandown's Classic Trial and should have place claims again here, while Franklins Gardens was a game winner of a sub-standard Classic Trial at Epsom, but continues to improve and cannot be ruled out. Shanty Star is probably better than the bare form of his conditions victory at Catterick suggests, but may still struggle to hold his own in this company.
