      Verdict

This looks like a decent opportunity for MT KINTYRE to break his maiden tag at the ninth time of asking, and we'll support him ahead of Deuce and Sheila's Castle. By far the most experienced, this Irish bred gelding of Mark Tompkins' has looked progressive without being able to win so far. It's his first time on the Polytrack which may be a slight concern, but if he's in the mood he can take this, with the step up in trip looking a positive. He's been expensive to follow though, so we wouldn't take too short a price. Deuce is another who may not be entirely straightforward, being a maiden after seven outings, but was a little unlucky when second over this trip at Wolverhampton last week. She's officially rated 15 pounds worse than Mt Kintyre, but only gains three pounds in this contest. It may be significant that she's Eve Johnson Houghton's only runner on the card. Of the newcomers, Sheila's Castle looks interesting, having been second in a couple of bumpers, a switch to Flat racing may be the way forward for her. Whether she stays on the level or switches to jumping remains to be seen. Any support for Red Army Commander would be interesting, given that he's had one run and that was two years ago when he came last of 12 in a Salisbury maiden. However our preference is for Mt Kintyre to finally reward those who've unsuccessfully supported him before.
