In depth

Verdict

GLEN LASS arrives in form and is best in at the weights so gets the vote to land the hat-trick, with Mary Helen and Lily Lily the most likely to cause an upset. Jeff Pearce has his runners in good order and none have advertised that more than this filly, who has won three on the spin since mid-December. All of those efforts have been in claiming company and whilst it's a slight worry that she's yet to win over this far, this extra furlong shouldn't really pose any problems. Mary Helen was beaten a length by our selection in receipt of weight when they met in December, so giving 2lbs to the likely favourite seems a big ask for the Brisbourne-trained filly. That said, she's also in good heart and has won over the trip so she is put forward as the clear second best, ahead of Lily Lily who completes the shortlist. This one ran well behind an above-average sort for the grade last time but today's trip has to be a concern, whilst she's also got a bit to do at the weights here. Of the rest, During The War is actually third-best in at the weights and could go well at a price but there has to be some doubt as to whether this one is worth his official rating of 65 and he steps up markedly in trip here, so a watching brief is best advised. Magic Spirit is unexposed having had just the one start but she'll need to improve upon it to figure, so of more interest is Aegean Destiny who gets weight from all of her rivals although once more the trip is a concern. Premium Charge was beaten out of sight by our pick last time and The Great Husk has work on at the weights, so in a less-than-competitive claimer our selection Glen Lass is a confident one.
