Verdict

Marine Parade is the pick over Cape Free, with La Marmotte and Lordswood not to be totally ruled out. This moderate claimer on the all-weather should be well within the capabilities of Marine Parade who faces nothing like the calibre of opponent that he met in a big sales race at Newmarket at the end of September. Down the field then, Richard Hannon's colt had earlier caught the eye, in particular when a close fourth at Windsor in July, and the feeling is that as he has shaped better on faster ground, this switch to the Polytrack will suit, as will the drop in grade obviously. Cape Free showed some ability on his debut over six furlongs at Southwell recently, staying on at the finish, so the step up in distance will be in his favour, while La Marmotte was last of 12 in a Wolverhampton nursery after being hampered just four days ago. She was successful in selling company at Newmarket in August, and a bit of improvement is needed for her to figure. Lordswood has shown nothing in two tries in higher grade, but this half-sister to prolific winner Palawan should be found a suitable opportunity in time. For now though, we prefer the claims of Marine Parade.
