In depth
Verdict
Lucefer has not been beaten far on his last three efforts and can gain a deserved success here from Indian Blaze and Backlash. Greg Chung's gelding is quite lightly raced having had a few niggling problems and finished a close up fourth behind Magical Wit last week in a very competitive affair. That form should be good enough against these rivals and he is a confident selection. Backlash wasn't beaten far behind Imperial Royale at Wolverhampton last time over a mile and a half, the drop in trip is a slight concern but he could get into the places at a nice price. Indian Blaze is now an eleven year old but his two recent efforts here suggest he retains plenty of ability and he looks certain to figure in the finish. City General and Pirouettes could be the pick of the others, but Lucefer has been knocking on the door, and it could be time for it to open
