      Verdict

An open conditions race can go the way of Alan King's Levara who could turn out to be top class, and is taken to beat Eisteddfod and globe-trotting Vortex. The selection disappointed in the Jersey stakes last time out when, having suffered interference two furlongs out, was heavily eased by today's jockey Jamie Spencer. Before that he had racked up a four-timer and assuming that he is tuned up for this reappearance (ran well on debut and won on his previous reappearance), he may hold too much class. Eisteddfod conquered over six furlongs last time out but the feeling is that this extra furlong just stretches his stamina too much. Red Cape was a good winner of a handicap over course and distance last time out but could be vulnerable off this higher mark, so of more interest may be Gaye Kelleway's Vortex. Game and consistent, he is certainly capable of popping up once again. At a price, the totally unexposed Sensasse could go well but may need the run after a monster lay-off, and so we will return to Levara to land the spoils.
