In depth
Verdict
The Polytrack surface has proved a hit with jockeys, as there is no longer the need to fly out of the stalls to avoid kickback. Face The Storm is an interesting contender, not given a hard time on her Leicester debut and, as a daughter of Barathea, sure to get the mile. Richard Hannon likes to keep a team ticking over in the winter and saddles Hannamie, who was also looked after on his racecourse bow at Newbury. Ed Dunlop only started to fire during the latter part of the turf Flat season, and has booked Jamie Spencer for Eyad who has already had a taste of this surface, having posted a staying on fourth over seven furlongs a fortnight ago. All should go well, but the TEAMtalk selection is Mac. Marcus Tregoning's colt was badly outpaced on his second outing at Ascot, finishing fourth to Garros. That was a noteworthy effort, and Martin Dwyer, one of the top jockeys at Lingfield keeps up the association. A draw in stall three should not prove a hindrance, and Mac should get favourite backers off the mark.
