In depth

Verdict

Topweight Kirovski is probably flattered by his proximity to the eased down Beauchamp Pilot in the Churchill Stakes and, having been raised 3lbs for that run, he looks to have plenty to do. Jeremy Noseda's Adiemus has his first start since second to Zucchero in last year's Lincoln and is likely to be using this as a stepping stone to the 2003 renewal of the Doncaster handicap. Jewel Of India, a rare runner on the flat for Philip Hobbs, was given an enterprising ride by Simon Whitworth when landing a classified stakes race last month and has more to do in better company here and on a line through Lygeton Lad may struggle to get the better of Gallant Boy. Eastern Breeze beat Linning Wine by three-quarters of a length over course and distance last month but, on a line through the second and on previous form, he has it to do to beat Brilliant Red on these terms. Jamie Poulton's gelding has been a revelation this winter, since joining present connections from Linda Richards' yard and with a 5lb pull for two lengths with Paul d'Arcy's gelding he gets the vote.
