        Verdict

        Emsam Ballou can make the necessary improvement to land the opener, with Lebenstanz, Miss Adelaide and Keelung others to conjure with. Richard Hannon has been working his Everleigh string well in readiness for the start of the Turf Flat season, but there are still some decent prizes to aim for on the all-weather, and Emsam Ballou has leading claims here. The daughter of Bluebird stayed on from the back to grab third on her debut here 12 days ago and has enough stamina on the dam's side to get the mile here. She should be noted over the next few weeks as she will be just that bit sharper than most and can pay to follow. Miss Adelaide showed a modicum of ability as a juvenile but is likely to need the run, but Keelung, who played up at the start on his reappearance over the course and distance after a 116-day break, should make his presence felt. It is unusual for Luca Cumani to have one ready so early, so the fact that he unleashes Lebenstanz should be noted. This son of Singspiel is closely related to useful stayer Boreas and will improve when gradually upped in trip. He may be fit enough to run well today though and is worth considering for a place. For the winner though, we return to Emsam Ballou.
