Verdict
It would be no surprise to see Big Bad Burt show improvement for his first venture into handicap company but joint-weights St Savarin and Resplendent King look set to fight out the finish here, with Resplendent King just preferred. The Terry Mills trained gelding displayed improved form when finishing a close up third behind Desert Image in a slightly better race than this a couple of weeks ago and if reproducing that effort must go close. St Savarin was only beaten two lengths in a class C handicap here last time over the seven furlong trip, he may not be quite as good over this longer distance but still holds strong claims. Big Bad Burt has shown enough in three maidens to suggest he may well have been let in here on a fair mark, and with the stable landing a major coup with a similar type on Monday, this one warrants plenty of respect. Rickay Martan and Archerfield hail from stables who do well here at Lingfield so are worth a look in the betting, but after much consideration Resplendent King is given the vote.
