In depth

Verdict

A large and competitive field assemble for the finale in which Zafarshah is a sporting selection to beat the likes of Hard To Catch, Cold Climate and Currency. David Evans has Zafarshah in fine fettle at present, and the five-year-old has the assistance of Kieren Fallon in his bid to land a third victory of the year. The son of Danehill has gained both successes over the course and distance, on the latest occasion accounting for Hard To Catch by a length and a half. Although now two pounds worse off at the weights, the fact that Fallon now has the leg up should help offset the rise. The champion has won on him before, at Sandown last May. Hard To Catch is drawn much lower and has since visited the winner's enclosure here, but that was over six furlongs and he may again be found wanting back up in trip. Cold Climate has had a bit of a break but is a course and distance winner and does not look badly treated, while Harrison Point is sure to have been well galloped for his return under the care of the recently returned Peter Chappel-Hyam. Currency and Tayif are both capable in the hustle and bustle of big fields like this, and cannot be ruled out, but in a hard one to call, Zafarshah is a tentative choice.
