In depth

Verdict

Barton Sands and Maniatis look set to fight out the finish here, and we will side with the last named, Chocolate Boy looks best of the remainder. Nick Littmoden's eight-year-old contested much better events than this during last summer, and in fact landed two claimers off marks in the seventies. This drop to selling company should see him back in the winners enclosure. Barton Sands has a little bit to find on official ratings but is in good form. He was successful here in February and wasn't disgraced here last time behind Mad Carew, he could be the one to take advantage if the selection is lacking in fitness. Chocolate Boy has claims on his second to Kavi here last month and should be capable of making his presence felt. The rest make very little appeal and so it doesn't look too difficult a task for Maniatis who is our idea of the winner.
