In depth
Verdict
A very tricky classified contest that may fall to Blazing The Trail, with Meelup and Raheel two of many dangers. The John Hills trained gelding showed his first sign of real ability when chasing home Brave Dane in a class F handicap over course and distance last month. He wasn't disgraced on his next outing either when just over four lengths fourth to War Owl in a similar contest off a higher mark. This represents a drop in class and he should go close to landing first prize. Meelup is trying this trip for the first time after being successful over a mile here last time. Raheel has also tasted victory, he beat Indian Blaze over course and distance three weeks ago by a comfortable four lengths, however that was off a mark of 49, so on official ratings has it all to do against the selection. Must Be Magic and Half Inch have shown enough talent to take a hand in the finish as well, but in a race where caution when betting is advised, Blazing The Trail gets the vote.
