In depth

Verdict

Chevallier bids to win this for the third time in succession and has every chance of doing so on the back of finishing third here a fortnight ago ahead of both Isomer and the disappointing My Target. But AL JELLABY (NAP) was having his first outing since August when narrowly beaten at Kempton earlier in the month and Clive Cox’ charge has plenty of scope for further improvement this year. He gets the vote though Ballard Down is not out of this either having also run well at Newcastle on his reappearance and first start for David O’Meara’s yard. Florencio has recorded all eight wins so far over shorter trips including a recent success over 7f here and Insurgence has done all his winning to date over the same distance.
